Departing our base in Darwin, we head for Kakadu National Park, the largest National Park in Australia which covers almost 20,000 square kilometres. This very aspect alone makes travel by helicopter such an attractive prospect especially if you are short on time and looking for a great return in value. (Road times average three hours each way). Kakadu is home to the tallest falls in the Northern Territory - Jim Jim Falls, with an impressive 200 metre drop into a large pool surrounded by 150 metre high cliffs.
We overfly Deaf Adder Valley, the famous Jim Jim and Twin Falls, Twin Falls Creek, Koolpin Gorge, the South Alligator River, Gunlom Falls. It goes without saying that the wet season (November to April) is the best time to witness the falls in all their glory, with excessive flow after the rain begins, however they are still quite spectacular into the early dry season.
We then land at Cooinda for a delicious lunch and Yellow Water Cruise if you decide to add that option. Upon departing Cooinda, we then finish the adventure off with a stop at the infamous Goat Island before returning to Darwin.
